Every year tucked away in the southwest of Brooklyn
Is a world full of lights and everyone’s looking
To see all the beautiful decorative homes
Bringing joy to the world with inflatable gnomes
And snowmen and angels and giant nutcrackers
All the children delighted and happy with laughter
A tradition dating back to the early 1980s
Has grown even bigger and become as of lately
A time where the neighbors try to outdo each other
To have the one house that everyone covets
While walking past one house covered with deer
A little girl yelled, “I want to live here!”
She couldn’t contain all her joyful excitement
As she knew that she’d never forget this one moment
Santa patiently sits on his velvety chair
Surrounded by snowflakes and white polar bears
To listen to children all exultant with cheer
Tell him what they’d like for Christmas this year
From dollies to race cars to shiny red bikes
There seems to be nothing these children don’t like
But jolly Saint Nick is as happy as ever
To guarantee these presents delivered
So next time you find yourself in Dyker Heights
Make sure that you stop by these beautiful lights
As they’re sure to be something you’d not want to miss
